Dear Friend,
We are pleased to announce some exciting staff updates. Mary Pope Hutson has assumed the role of Executive Vice President to focus on partnerships with government and other groups. She will be our “ambassador” for the land conservation community.
We are also delighted that Leslie Ratley-Beach has joined the Alliance as our Easement Defense Director. Leslie’s extensive legal and program experience with conservation easements at the Vermont Land Trust will be a great asset for our community. She will help us address the tough challenges of IRS audits of easements, condemnation of easements, and researching the potential of litigation insurance for land trusts. More

| The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, will conduct a lottery in 2007 to select applicants for the first year of the program. Land trusts interested in the lottery drawing must submit an electronic "intent to apply" by August 31, 2007. This is your organization's "lottery ticket." Names of applicants will be drawn at Rally 2007 in Denver in early October, and results will be posted on the Commission's website by mid-October.
